  5. In the interest of preventing the possibility of data corruption that may be
  6. caused by the SMARTDRV.SYS disk caching utility that comes with Windows 3,
  7. Ontrack Computer Systems is making a program called CHKPRT available to all,
  8. free of charge.
  9.  
  10. CHKPRT is a utility that will look at all partitions on all hard disks for
  11. compatibility with Microsoft's SMARTDRV.SYS cache utility.  It will display
  12. a table containing a SMARTDRV.SYS compatibility message for each hard disk
  13. found.  After the table is complete, a conclusion will be shown explaining
  14. the overall state of your hard disk subsystem in regards to compatibility
  15. with the SMARTDRV.SYS cache utility.

  17. CHKPRT is now available for download in the files section of this BBS in both
  18. EXE format, or ZIP compressed format, whichever you prefer.  All you need to
  19. do is download it, and then run it on your computer.  CHKPRT /? will reprint
  20. the second paragraph of this bulletin for your future reference.
